What is your opinion on smokers? Do you get along with them, do you feel sympathy for them, or do you despise them as the lowest form of life on the planet?
I've never been a smoker of cigarettes so I can't say I know the difficulty of trying to quit, I have only heard the stories of the successful and unsuccessful quitters.
Finally, I am curious, if you tolerate smokers because they are related, do you stand with them as they light up or do you pressure them to do their business out in the backyard alone?

I grew up in a smoke free home and find it vile. I try and be open minded, but for the most part I view smokers as weak. I wish that wasn't the case, but they just seem gross and dependent and that's VERY unattractive to me. I think it has a lot to do with how I was raised...
Thanks heidi for you comment. I tolerate them when necessary for the most part. But if they are in my home I ask them to smoke out back alone.
I are one, so I'd say I tolerate them pretty well.
I do not, however, smoke cigarettes inside my house. That's what patios are for. I wouldn't even consider smoking in someone else's home.
Incidentally, heidi, this is from your profile:
"Interests: drinking copious amounts of wine."
Careful with those stones.
I smoked for about 7 years. quitting both times I was pregnant, for good the second time. when we had our youngest, My hubby decided to smoke outside. Until he quit a few years ago, I didn't realize how bad smokers smelled. Our relatives have to smoke outside. We don't stand near or downwind of them.
If we are out in public, I don't intentionally sit with or by smokers, but I don't preach, lecture or be rude either. To each their own I reckon.
PS - Thanks for stoppin' by today.
Thanks everyone for responding. Congrats keb for being able to quit. I have also noticed smokers have a certain scent that follows them.
Thanks becky, I have to agree with you. Drinking versus smoking you have a good point. When someone drinks their drink of choice they don't interfere with my ability to breathe.
Remember the smoking vs. non smoking areas in restaurants? What a load.
No, Ms. Hostess I prefer to sit next to the gentleman throwing anthrax in the air, that is more agreeable for me. That's Carlin's joke by the way.
Wow a "smoke free" home kinda sounds like an article for sale on eBay. Most of us with age, gotta be PC these days, grew up in a smoked filled home, so I can be tolerant to an extent. I do become intolerant or combative with those who complain that they can not quit. I smoked for a few years, which is until I had my first child at that point I quit cold turkey. There is a reason quitting is called a life style change so, stop suing and take responsibility for your own actions.
Thanks fundy and congrats on quitting for yourself and your child. You are so right when you recommmend taking responsibility and for smokers to stop suing big tobacco.
If I'm doing something harmful to myself and I continue to do so without changing or seeking help to quit then I'm not a responsible adult.
