Well it was probably time for the Star to go Nova or maybe the Star was simply being sucked into a Black Hole of self-aggrandizement.
Whatever the case may be, any sane person with half a brain would be certain to never cross the ever-powerful Barbara Walters.
Of course, she won't be looking for employment for long, she is a lawyer.
Ask her, she'll tell you.

I also think she'll get a job as a legal analyst on NBC. Yeah, she was really dumb to have handled it the way she did. She was on The Today Show this morning saying that she was tired of the way teh media was bashing her, so that's why she just blurted out the story on Tuesday...she couldn't wait two more days? But, she did at least admit that she was over-the-top with her wedding and regrets that.
