Chavez Out

Well I'll be.. What would Jesus do?
I'm not sure but if you are the founder of the Christian Coalition maybe (I'm going out on a limb here) you refrain from endorsing the assasination of foreign leaders. Pat might want to consider opening rather than thumping his bible and finding the passage about killing not being condoned by the Almighty.
I will have to agree with the wise old man that it is a whole lot cheaper than starting a war. But, I digress. Doesn't Mr. Robertson have some upper echelon flunky he could have used to make such a statement for him? I guess not.
Maybe the devil made him do it.

Robertson's off his rocker, and always has been.

While assassination is sometimes the best recourse, it's often not nearly as attractive as a foreign policy tool as it may at first appear. Primarily, this is because it leaves a power vacuum, and if the situation in a government has reached the point where the leader is intolerable, he's generally surrounded himself with flunkies who will fight to fill the slot when he's offed. Even if you wipe out the entire cabinet, you still leave a power vacuum that will invariably result in strife and civil conflict.

Of course, there are times when it's the only choice, or when the assassinating party has someone in place to step in and make things transition smoothly. A good example would be the two attempted assassinations of Castro by the CIA in the sixties. A pity they failed; I really, really like Cuban cigars, but I refuse to support a communist state and a black market to acquire them.

Mind you, if someone gifts me with a box...

Thanks again jaregghead, I seriously think Mr. Robertson did not consider the power vacuum which is a huge concern with this line of thinking. I think it is typical that he claims now the media took his remarks out of context and now this a.m. he released a statement to the press apologizing for the dumb comment.
I think he should just use the "old man defense" which can be either I just don't give a damn I'm old, or my favorite, I'm old where am I? Can someone help me?

It is really amazes to see the MSM swarming like hippies looking for mushrooms in the pasture. How soon they forget that Stephanopoulos in 1997 called for the assassination of Saddam Hussein. Stephanopoulos devoted an entire column in Newsweek to the topic of whether the U.S. should take out Saddam Hussein. Yet there were no objection to his article by the MSM.

Yes, I realize that Pat is a Christian and should have never stated his personal opinions on the subject. This slip of the tongue will be used as an example that all Christians are evil people by our liberal brethren!

Oh wait……They did………….. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Dean!

Good point fundy, as anyone with common sense knows talking the talk is easier than walking the walk.
