Eight decades this historical figure has been under glass, how unusual. Here in the U.S. we are just as strange, but we don't have Roosevelt, Ike, Kennedy or Reagan for that matter on display for the morbid fans. Maybe someone of Russian/Soviet descent can shed some light on this for me.

Creepy is a good way to put it.
The Russians always have been a morose bunch of bastards. They're not happy unless they're moping and miserable, so it stands to reason they'd display a mummy in public. Kind of like Halloween, only without the fun parts. And no candy! Candy is an evil bourgeoise invention! Work harder!
I don't trust the Russians any farther than I can throw the Kremlin. They may have changed their flag, but they haven't changed their colors. It's just a matter of time before some despot rises up and takes the reins of power once again. And won't that be fun; Islamic nutzoids on one side, and a resurgent Russian nationalism on the other. Sounds like a lovely formula for World War III.

If I ever got to Red Square, I would definitely want to see Lenin. The U.S. has a different opinion on death and memorializing our leaders. I can see how Russia has come such a long way since Lenin and why some people want him gone, but hey, that's their history. They should preserve it.
